Striebig Vertical Panel Saws; Customer Feedback.

Customers of TM Machinery Sales report their experiences with Striebig vertical panel saws, also know as wall saws, in industrial sectors ranging from woodworking to heating panel production.

Blades; Kent

Kent joinery business Blades, which specialises in work for some of London’s most affluent residents, has three of the saws.

Among the company’s first purchases when it was formed in 1996 was a nine-year-old second hand model.

Partner Paul Wilcox said: “It has been regularly serviced and is still as good as new. Because we were so pleased with it when we recently decided to buy two new saws we didn’t look at any other makes.

“The accuracy, quality of cut and ease and speed of use of the latest two Striebig Compact vertical panel saw models are excellent.

“To help us produce top quality work we employ only class tradesmen and provide them with the very equipment. This is why we have chosen Striebig for all of our panel cutting.”

Home Décor

A top-of-the-range Striebig Control vertical panel saw model plays a key role at sliding wardrobe door maker Home Décor, which supplies B&Q. Ease-of-operation and a space-saving footprint were amongst the main reasons for its purchase.

Replacing a conventional panel saw, it sizes chipboard panels with a paper foil laminate plus MDF panels that are used for the front facings of bespoke wardrobe doors.  Home Décor specified an optional scribing blade along with the standard blade, which prevents splits in the face of the laminate panels.

Manufacturing engineer, Stuart Limb, said: “After reviewing all the saws on the market we decided that the Striebig ‘ticked all the right boxes’. We chose it because of its impressive automatic cutting cycle, the build quality, and the lack of space it takes up.”

The saw’s operator, Jim Hague, added: “It’s a lot easier to use than a table saw, which needed two people, and its accuracy is spot on. We no longer end up with panels that are out of square.”

A hardwood timber stockist has increased sawing efficiency and attracted extra business by upgrading to a Striebig.

S.L. Hardwoods: Croydon

S.L. Hardwoods, of Croydon, claims to be the largest quality hardwood supplier in South London. It’s Striebig Compact vertical panel saw is used chiefly to size sheet material for customers and for use in its joinery.

Owner, John Smith, said: “We needed a robust saw that would stand up to daily trade use. I looked at four different manufacturers and opted for Striebig because of its build quality, accuracy, speed of set-up and ease of use.

“It’s around 30 per cent quicker than using our old table saw and gives a clean, crisp and accurate cut every time. We often had to double cut before to get things right.”

Experienced wood machinist Raj Patel the saw’s operator, said: “It’s a dream to use. Before, panels were coming off which were not 100% square. The new saw is much quicker as there’s no marking out needed anymore.”

S & P Coil Products; Leicester

At Leicester radiant heating panel manufacturer, S & P Coil Products, a Striebig has played a key role in a cost reduction exercise.

The company’s heating panels incorporate aluminium composite boards which were previously supplied ready-cut from Germany.

After S & P decided to cut the panels itself, it chose a Striebig Compact vertical panel saw fitted with an aluminium cutting blade, which has resulted in costs being slashed by up to 15 per cent.

Gary Carter, S & P’s Engineering Development Manager, said: “We can now keep substantial quantities of the board in stock ready for cutting, which gives us more control over production and helps to keep costs down.”

“We chose the Striebig because we were was impressed with its sturdy build, the quality of its cut and its accuracy, which is guaranteed to 0.1 mm. I also like the swivel head arrangement that allows it to cut both horizontally and vertically with ease. “
